AT&T Complaint

I am trying to get Directv in my apartment. I have gotten the okay by the apartment complex, but AT&T is claiming I could only have U-verse. Reasoning being my apartment complex is an At&T community. Directv is owned by At&T though, therefore I should be able to pursue my purchase. My apartment faces southeast and on the directv website they claim 100% of U.S. residents are allowed directv as long as they have a clear view of southeast. Directv is all for installing, but At&T is giving us a hassle. Might I add there are other tenants with Directv! I am very frustrated.
