Wall Street Journal Overcharged Me / Hidden Fees

Wall Street Journal Overcharged Me / Hidden Fees

What Wall Street Journal did:
Last year on 4/9/20, I allegedly signed up for a 2 month $1 trial with WSJ.com. Wall Street Journal.
There was an email verification sent on 4/9/20 that I never opened and did not verify my email as I did not recognize it. In that email there is fine print that says that when the trail ends it will automatically bill for a monthly subscription of $19.49 with an increase in June 2021 to $38.99 per month. Unfortunately I was not aware of these charges until late August of this year 2021. I never received a monthly bill notifying me I was being charged. In late August 2021 I called their customer service to cancel the subscription and ask for a refund. The agent stated to me that I could not get a refund as the subscription was non refundable. I would never have agreed to sign up for this subscription and never accessed their site. I called another time and spoke to a supervisor who stated that since they sent me an email verification that was a legally binding contract. I never opened this email as I stated above and have a screenshot showing this.
I was charged a total of $362 between April 2020 to August 2021. I would like a full refund from WSJ and find their trail offer very misleading and bad business practice. I have other documents available if needed. Thank you for your time and consideration.

What would you like the company to do to fix the problem?

A full refund and an apology
