I have had a loan for 2008 Nissan since 2011 and have paid them over 44,000 and still 7,000. They late fees and the dishonest way they apply payments to these charges has gone on for over 8 years.
Santander Bank to Pay $11.8 Million to Settle Auto Loan, Insurance Claims
I purchased a vehicle from Santander in 2015 with a payment of $399 monthly. The total price of the car was roughly $17,000. It is now 4.5 years later an I still have a balance of $15,337. As of a today I have paid a total of $17,888 towards the car but my balance is still practically the same.
When I purchased a car loan through Santander in Oct. of 2013 I had no idea they sold it to me illegally (they gave me a Zero Down deal - which went against their agreement with their contract they actually set in place). The car has since then been repossessed and now it's on my credit report. I know there were hidden fees and other things in the contract to make it impossible to ever look like I would ever be able to pay the car off by making the minimum payments (which were becoming increasingly harder to keep up...such a long story behind that).
All payments have been paid and I have actually overpaid. Will not correct, update my account to reflect on time payments, provide documentation that I have asked for including why they feel I owe them 7 more payments over the 72 made, does not have original contract to provide me, 1 credit bureau shows my account it actually closed too!
I owe $200 less than when I purchased the vehicle in 2015
Santander since I'm going to repossess my car while I was inside a store rather than allowing me to voluntarily surrender it I had a large amount of personal items in that car which Santander has never returned to me and I have contacted the many times to get the name of the company which has my personal items I've been doing this for a year-and-a-half now with no results
I had an operation overseas and I asked santander consumer USA for loan extension and they gave me extension. But my recovery took longer as I expected and I couldn’t work to pay the car payment. Their representatives called me and I explained my situation and they agreed each month I pay like 100 to 200$ to keep the account current and I did pay even more than we agreed. But they denied these agreement and reported to credit reporting agencies and repossessed my car and cost me so much to release my car again.
My Apr was signed at 22%...Santander is reporting it at 24%
72 month car loan. Made 72 payments, and the principal amount is still the same
